Supervising Social Worker

Liz has over 20 years experience in Social work and has worked in a variety of roles. Prior to qualifying as a  Social Worker  she worked as a Residential Social Worker between 1991- 1993.

Liz qualified as a Social Worker in 1995 and worked for two years as an area team Social Worker on a generic children and families’ team in Stockport, Greater M/C. From there she worked for 6 years as a Post Adoption counsellor mainly focusing on birth records counselling and running a weekly surgery in Styal women’s prison.

Between June 1997 – June 2003 Liz was employed as a Senior Supervising Officer at the Greater Manchester Children’s Supervised Contact and Assessment Centre (Pro – Contact).

Between 2005 – 2008 she worked as an Agency worker based mainly in the statutory sector in Child Protection and Family placement teams.

In 2008 Liz became the manager of a Refuge for women and children fleeing Domestic violence, and then left after 2 years to pursue other interests. Liz then joined Lorimer Foster services in 2011 primarily as a Form F assessor and then moving on to be a Supervising Social Worker with responsibility for supervising and supporting foster carers.
