Family Wanted Event (Manchester Fostering Series)

Manchester Fostering

Lorimer Fostering teamed up with the BBC to promote the increasing need for Manchester fostering and adoption families nationally.

The whole campaign comprised of a 5 part series of the ‘Family Wanted’ documentary, relevant story lines in Casualty, various TV appeals, radio broadcasts, celebrity endorsements, on-line activity, phone helpline, text service and local events.

We joined the BBC at two of their national events in September 2007; one at Broughton Hall High School in Liverpool and the other event was held at the Urbis Museum in Manchester. Although the events were not well attended by the public we found them very successful as we gained new foster carers from them!

Our stands were manned by both staff and foster carers, we found this to be a very valuable tool as our carers could speak to the public first hand and provide them with an insight as to what fostering teenagers is really like!
