Fostering Wirral
Are you energetic, patient and understanding? Do you have experience caring for children? You could be the ideal Wirral foster carer. We’re always looking to recruit new foster carers in the Wirral area.
With a national shortage of over 8,500 foster carers across the UK, Lorimer Fostering is constantly searching for foster carers in and around the Wirral area to meet the ever-increasing demand. We need your help to provide stable and supportive homes for these children and young people who are unable to live with their own families.
There are various reasons why children are in care and various types of foster placements that are needed. Some children may need short-term or emergency care with the intention of returning to their family in the near future, whereas other placements may be long-term until a child reaches adulthood if they unable to return home.
Whatever their situation, these children and young people have experienced loss or separation from family members and need someone to care for them and offer support and stability to help them make sense of their situation and feelings at what may be a very difficult time of their life.
Who can foster in Wirral?
In order to be considered for fostering in Wirral, you need to be over the age of 21, have a spare room and the energy to care for a young person. It doesn’t matter if you own or rent your home, if you’re employed or unemployed, married or single. As long as you can keep up with the demands of caring for children, you will be considered.
You do not have to have superpowers to be a successful foster carer. Like the children we look after foster carers come from a variety of backgrounds too. The main necessities are having a spare room, a commitment to care, patience and above all a big heart. As a foster carer, you can help to keep families together.
How much are Wirral fostering allowances?
Fostering is a rewarding career in itself. Helping a young person to make sense of their situation and build a pathway towards a successful and purposeful future is a huge reward in itself. But you will also be financially rewarded. Lorimer offers foster carer pay of £20,000 to £60,000 per year, depending on the number of placements you have.
You will also receive 2 weeks respite/holiday pay and a separate allowance for birthdays and religious celebrations. And don’t worry, you will not be on your own; you will receive fortnightly visits from your Social Worker and access to localised support meetings where you can meet other foster carers like yourself.
