LGBT+ Parents and Carers Day 2025

Today, on LGBT+ Parents and Carers Day 2025, we proudly join the celebration of families, love, and the incredible role that LGBT+ parents and carers play in the lives of children and young people. This year’s theme, Visibility, highlights the importance of recognising and celebrating diverse family structures, and ensuring that everyone feels seen, respected, and valued.

At Lorimer Fostering, we believe that what truly matters in fostering is the ability to provide a safe, nurturing, and supportive home for a child. Love, patience, and commitment are the foundations of fostering – and these qualities exist across all walks of life.

We are proud to be an inclusive fostering agency that welcomes applications from people of all backgrounds, identities, and experiences. Whether you are single, married, in a civil partnership, LGBT+, from a minority ethnic background, or have a disability – your individuality and life experience can make a real difference to a child who needs stability and care.

Proud 2 B Parents: The Organisers Behind the Campaign

This important day is organised by Proud 2 B Parents, a non-profit organisation run by and for LGBT+ parents and their families. Their mission is to ensure LGBT+ families are visible, celebrated, and supported in all aspects of life. By creating opportunities for connection and raising awareness, they help challenge stigma and showcase the positive impact LGBT+ parents and carers have every single day.

Why Visibility Matters

Visibility is powerful. When LGBT+ foster carers and parents are visible, they show children that families can look different, but still be full of love and security. This representation matters. Both for children who may be questioning their own identity, and for those who simply need to know that they belong and are accepted.

By standing proud in our diversity, we help to break down stereotypes. We help challenge prejudice, and create a fostering community that is truly welcoming to all.

Our Commitment to Inclusivity

At Lorimer, we are committed to:

  • Championing diversity – welcoming foster carers from every background.
  • Providing equal opportunities – ensuring the fostering journey is accessible and supportive.
  • Creating safe spaces – for carers and children alike, where everyone feels respected and valued.

Join Our Community

On this LGBT+ Parents and Carers Day, we want to thank all of our amazing foster carers – LGBT+ and allies alike – who continue to open their hearts and homes to children who need them.
