What We Want the Future of Lorimer to Feel Like

At Lorimer Fostering, the future isn’t something we wait for – it’s something we actively shape. As we look ahead, our focus isn’t only on what we do, but on how it feels to be part of Lorimer, for the children and young people we support, for our foster carers, and for our staff team.

Our vision for the future is rooted in consistency, reflection, and empowerment. It’s about building an agency that continues to learn, adapt, and grow – always with the best interests of children at its heart.

Evolving our Internal Processes with Purpose

As Lorimer develops, so too must the systems and processes that support our work. We see the evolution of our internal processes as a long-term strategy, not a box-ticking exercise.

This means:

  • Reviewing how we work, not just what we do
  • Streamlining processes so they support, rather than slow down, good practice
  • Making thoughtful use of data and feedback to inform decision-making

Our aim is to ensure that our internal structures enable high-quality, responsive support – freeing up time and energy for what matters most: relationships, reflection, and outcomes for children.

A Commitment to Reflective Practice and Continuous Improvement

We want Lorimer to be an organisation that never stands still. Reflective practice is central to who we are and who we want to become.

Looking ahead, we are committed to:

  • Creating regular spaces for reflection at every level of the organisation
  • Encouraging open, honest conversations about what’s working and what isn’t
  • Learning from experience – including challenges – and using those lessons to improve

Continuous improvement isn’t about perfection, it’s about curiosity, humility, and a shared commitment to doing better tomorrow than we did yesterday.

Empowering Our Staff and Foster Carers

The future we want for Lorimer is one where people feel trusted, valued, and empowered.

For our staff, that means:

  • Clear roles, strong support, and opportunities to develop
  • A culture where ideas are welcomed and professional judgement is respected
  • Feeling confident to innovate, reflect, and lead within their roles

For our foster carers, empowerment means:

  • Feeling genuinely listened to and involved in decision-making
  • Having access to the right support, training, and guidance at the right time
  • Being treated as skilled professionals and key partners in a child’s journey

When people feel empowered, they are better able to support children with confidence, consistency, and care.

Our Ambitions for the Next Few Years

As we look to the coming years, we have clear ambitions for how Lorimer will continue to grow and strengthen.

These include:

  • Enhancing placement stability, by improving matching and support for carers and children
  • Broadening carer support, including access to specialist advice, peer support, and tailored training
  • Strengthening collaboration, both internally and with external partners, to ensure children receive joined-up care
  • Investing in our people, ensuring staff and carers feel supported, skilled, and valued for the long term

Above all, our ambition is to create a fostering environment where children feel safe and understood, carers feel confident and supported, and staff feel proud of the work they do.

The Future of Lorimer: Looking Ahead

The future of Lorimer isn’t defined by a single goal or initiative. It’s defined by a shared commitment to learning, care, and continuous improvement.

We want the future of Lorimer to feel steady, thoughtful, and hopeful – a place where people grow, voices are heard, and children are given the stability and opportunity they deserve.

And we’re excited to keep building that future together.
