Lorimer - At the heart of fostering

Foster Care Fortnight 2024

Posted on 14th May 2024 by

The Fostering Network’s annual campaign, Foster Care Fortnight 2024, starts today! FCF (Foster Care Fortnight) is a great opportunity for those interested in fostering to find out more.

This years theme is ‘Fostering Moments’, which gives the fostering community an opportunity to celebrate the moments that define fostering journeys, big and small. The moments that built confidence, made young people feel safe and created memories.

Throughout the fortnight people across the fostering community will be encouraged to share the moments that have mattered to them. For foster carers, this might be the moment they were approved as a foster carer, or the moment a young person in their care hugged them for the first time. The aim is to show that every moment matters in fostering.

Whether you’re a foster carer, a social worker, young person, Fostering Friendly employer or supporter of foster care; you are part of a community making a real difference to the lives of young people, and we want you all to get involved in the Foster Care Fortnight celebration.

What to Expect

We know how fantastic the fostering community is, and we want to highlight that over the two-week campaign. We’re inviting all young people, birth children, Foster Carers, their family members, and the wider support network to participate and share their special fostering moments with the community. This is a fantastic chance for everyone to be heard and give insight into the world of fostering, demonstrating how we can all work together to improve the lives of children and teenagers in care.

Send us images, make a short video or just write a few sentences that we can use if you prefer. Anything that you can send us will be greatly appreciated and will really help us with our campaign for this year.

You can send your content for Foster Care Fortnight to bowen@lorimerfostering.com, or send them to your Supervising Social Worker to pass on. We look forward to hearing your stories and all about your experiences!
