Fundraising For The Fostering Network | Foster Care Fortnight
This year, a couple of team members from Lorimer Fostering, along with some other friends, will be taking part in the Great Manchester 10k Run! Through doing this we are hoping to raise funds for a charity very close to our hearts, The Fostering Network. The run takes place during Foster Care Fortnight, a yearly two-week campaign organised by The Fostering Network. The campaign helps to raise awareness for the need for more foster carers. This years’ theme is #ChangeAFuture, something we know foster carers strive to do for the young people living with them.
WHO ARE THE FOSTERING NETWORK?
The Fostering Network is the UK’s leading fostering charity, and transforming foster children’s lives is at the heart of everything they do. They are a powerful catalyst for change, influencing and shaping fostering policy and practice. Everyday there are 64,000 children living with foster carers who do an amazing job giving many of these children their first positive experience of family life. In the next year, over 9,000 more foster carers are needed.
The Fostering Network is ambitious for fostered children and young people. They undoubtedly believe in their potential and want them to have every opportunity to flourish. Some of the great things they do include:
· Providing opportunities for children and young people that benefit them, make their voices heard and enable them to reach their potential
· Promoting foster care to ensure society understands, values and recognises how foster carers transform children and young people’s lives
· Influencing policy and the legislative framework so it supports and promotes excellence in foster care
· Supporting fostering families and the services that work with them to provide the best possible care for children and young people.
Every 20 minutes in the UK a child comes into care needing a foster family. By choosing to support The Fostering Network, you can help us to help every child in foster care to experience the same life chances as other children. Our hope is that we can help raise the profile of this charity and the fantastic work that they do to support everyone involved in fostering. We can & should do so much more for young people in care. It’s time to change the narrative for those young people, ensuring that they fulfil their potential and achieve their ambitions.
