About Us

Lorimer Fostering is a well-established Independent Fostering Agency serving the North West, with our central office in Manchester.  We’ve been placing vulnerable children and young people with loving foster families across the area for over 15 years, improving hundreds of lives along the way.

We at Lorimer continually put the children and young people at the heart of everything we do. We work closely with local authorities to provide safe and stable homes for young people to thrive in, helping them to fulfil their potential.

Our safe recruitment procedures require every successful applicant to be subject to a robust application process, including a DBS (Disclosure Barring Service) check which is paid for by us.

About the Form F Assessor role

Lorimer Fostering is recruiting a bank of skilled and experienced self-employed Social Workers to undertake Form F Assessments independently.

You must have a flexible approach to the hours and days that you work to fit in with the needs of the applicant(s). You are also required to have a full driving licence and access to a car, as transport to and from visits in the North West is a large part of this role.

As an Independent Form F Assessor, you will conduct home visits to allocated prospective Foster Carers with a view to gaining pertinent information to help form the basis of your report. You will produce and present high quality, evidence-based Form F assessment reports to our panel members. This will be done within a set timescale agreed by yourself and Lorimer’s Team Manager at the point of allocation.

You will develop an effective working relationship, not only with the applicants, but with other professionals involved in the assessment. The Independent Form F Assessor role comes with the responsibility of ensuring sound knowledge and adherence to all childcare legislation, including Fostering Regulations and National Minimum Standards.

About you

You will be motivated, flexible, empathetic and understanding. You will have effective interpersonal and communication skills at all levels. You will be committed to your own development by attending training and regular supervision sessions with Lorimer’s Team Manager.

You will need to be a qualified Social Worker, registered with HCPC and you will need to hold the relevant insurances. Experience of producing Form F assessments is essential.
