LORIMER FOSTERING PRESENTS: ALL ABOUT YOU
Last week we welcomed young people in to the Lorimer Fostering HQ to take part in an ‘All About You’ session! The day started out with a ‘Getting to Know You’ forum ran by youth engagement company Silver Lined Horizons. The ladies from SLH encouraged everyone to take part through a fun and creative atmosphere. Young people had the opportunity to discuss what makes a good foster carer, and put some of these ideas down on to posters! The young people even came up with a name for their group, ‘Same‘! Everyone agreed this was very fitting.
Take a look at some of the amazing work they created below!
The afternoon started out with some pizza (because who doesn’t love pizza, right?!) and the young people had some time to openly chat with one another. We were then joined by Leon from Graffiti Stars, who came to do a graffiti workshop with the young people! The session was hand’s on and engaging, as Leon encouraged everyone to come up with ideas for their graffiti designs. Once everyone had created their designs, it was time to head outside to start making some artwork! Leon discussed health and safety tips and the history of graffiti as he demonstrated equipment to the young people.

The young people couldn’t wait to pick up the spray cans and get started! First of all, they used stencils and cut outs to create unique illustrations on their canvases, before adding their name, or their favorite word on top to finish it off. As a result, coloured cans were frantically being passed back and forth so that everyone could perfect their image! The young people were super pleased with the results and were even able to take their canvas with them to hang up somewhere!
After they had created their own canvases, Leon and the group came up with one big graffiti design to be displayed on our meeting room wall. They came up with words that represent foster care, such as ‘helpful’, ‘safe’, ‘caring’ and ‘support’. Together, they created a mock-up of how they wanted it to look, and as a result came this fantastic design. Leon got straight to work spraying the wall, with the Lorimer Fostering logo placed right in the centre! Take a look at the finished design below! We just love our new training room wall.
It was an exciting, fun filled day for everyone involved! We can’t wait to welcome the young people back for even more fun at another forum later this year!
