Lorimer - At the heart of fostering

October Roundup

Posted on 4th November 2022 by

Wow, here comes the winter, in with a real wet start too!

Did you go trick or treating, despite the weather? I did, and got absolutely soaking – the sweeties and hot chocolate are worth it though 😊

It’s been a bit quieter here at Lorimer HQ, as some of us have been away for half term, but don’t worry; we are all back and ready for the countdown to……CHRISTMAS!

Team News

Huge congratulations to our Placements Manager, Alli, who this month celebrated 20 years of working with the Lorimer Team. Her contribution and dedication has been invaluable, and I’m sure you will join us in sending her the very best wishes and congratulations on this milestone. Thank you Alli!!

We also have a welcome this month to David, who has come on board as our Development Manager.

First Aid Training

We were finally able to invite carers back to the offices this month for Paediatric First Aid training. This is a whole day course which is mandatory for all foster carers, providing them with a certificate which lasts for three years. On the course, our carers learnt resuscitation techniques, how to treat burns and scalds and how to dress a wound, to name but a few.

Thank you to everyone who attended these days, it was lovely to see some of you again after such a long time!

Mental Health Awareness

As part of World Mental Health Day, some of our young people took part in the Unleash the Inner Beast virtual challenge alongside our Resource Manager Claire.

We’d just like to say a MASSIVE well done to everyone involved – you all did such a fantastic job.

Our young people are always keen to get involved and love to participate in events such as this one.

Take a look at the awesome medals they received for completing the challenge!

Rugby Success!!

We would like to say a HUGE well done to our Resource Manager Claire who has recently joined a rugby team and just played their first game! They had lots of success and won the game with an impressive score of 28 – 4.

Well done ladies! We can’t wait to see how you get on throughout the rest of the season.
