Lorimer - At the heart of fostering

Sons and Daughters Week. Fostering Lancashire / Foster Care Lancashire Series

Posted on 12th October 2009 by

Lorimer Fostering are celebrating Sons and Daughters week by sending out cards to say a big THANK YOU to all the sons and daughters of our foster carers. We recognise that they all put in a lot of hardwork and support to help with the smooth placement of fostered children coming into their home but never quite get the appreciation that they deserve. It is hard having to share your parents and siblings time with strangers, but all of our carers birth children have played just as big a part in changing the foster child’s life as their parents have, and we just want them to know that we really do value their contributions.

The Fostering Network have pioneered the campaign to raise awareness of the hard-work that Sons and Daughters do. Suggs, the lead singer of Madness, Radio DJ and TV presenter, is the son of a foster carer and said:

“As my mother has been a foster carer for many years, I know what a difference fostering makes to children’s lives. While she is an inspiration to me and has helped so many children who’ve had a tough start in life, it is also important to recognise the role the rest of the family plays, particularly a foster carers’ own children. They take on responsibilities too and should get all the help and support they need. I hope Sons and Daughters Week is a great success and encourages everyone to recognise and value the contribution they make.”

THANK YOU AND KEEP GOING!!
