Well, we have certainly been feeling the heat at Lorimer this week! Hopefully you have all been able to keep cool.
The end of term and summer holidays are upon us. Some of you may be jetting off around the world and others staying closer to home. Whatever your plans are, six weeks of summer is a long time to entertain kids!
Here are some ideas for activities at home, in your local area and beyond.

Follow the Wizards Trail!
Manchester Wizard’s Spellbook Treasure Trail is suitable for ages 4+. A magical journey awaits you; no need to book just download your trail map and off you go!!
Learn Through Fun!
Manchester Museum of Science and Industry. With free entry and a special exhibit about Amazonia for the summer, it’s great for a rainy day.

LANCASHIRE SUMMER HOLIDAY IDEAS
Planet Ice in Blackburn has year round ice skating facilities for all the family. Have a boogie at one of their disco themed sessions!
Fired 4 U is a pottery studio where you can choose from over 150 clay designs to make and keep. Let your imagination run wild!
Head down to Brockholes Nature Reserve for a truly fun-filled day. Grab a picnic and explore the trails, visit the center and watch for wildlife around the lakes.
A Horsey Day Out!
Penny Farm – World Horse Welfare meet the horses and look around the farm – café available for refreshments and light bites.

Step Into the Past!
Williamson Tunnels Heritage Centre takes you underground to explore this unseen part of 19th Century Liverpool – see if you can spot the moles!
Jungle Parc is the place for high-up adventure! Suitable from ages 4+, bring out your inner monkey!
Down on the Farm!
Rice Lane City Farm is 24 acres of pure fun and discovery, with petting areas, nature trails and loads of space for a picnic.

A Trip to the Zoo!
There are lots of fun activities happening at Chester Zoo this summer. With 35,000 animals and 128 acres of zoological gardens, there’s plenty to do.
A Day with the Deer!
Tatton Park has 1000 acres of parkland, walks, wildlife and a super fun playground to enjoy.
An Outdoor Adventure!
Crocky Trail is filled with fun things to do; including the scary wobbly bridges, swinging chain bridge and fallen log! You can even have a picnic in one of their tree houses!

Foster Carers are entitled to a Blue Light Card (costing £4.99) for two years of discounts across a huge range of shops, experiences and days out; Lorimer will provide our carers with proof of occupation for this.
Finally, here is a list of places where children can eat for free or with a big discount this summer:
Lorimer Fostering include a Days Out allowance for you to spend time with the children in your care.
Speak to your Supervising Social Worker if you’re not sure how to book this in, or if you need any help getting your Max Card or Blue Light Cards.
If you’re days out include overnight stays, you’ll also need permission from the young person’s Social Worker
