July Roundup at Lorimer!

Posted on 5th August 2022 by

Wow, where has the month gone? Time for our run down of Lorimer news for July!

This month we have seen record breaking temperatures for many across the country. While the mercury may have dropped (for now!) there’s still lots of fun to be had for the holidays.

In last weeks blog post, we gave you loads of ideas for things to do with the kids. Share with us your stories, pictures and adventures – we would love to see them!

Thank you!

Our Resource Manager Claire and some of our young people have been making Lorimer House look wonderful and cheerful!

They have created window art (with a cheeky message 😊), plant pots and some fabulous planters. Some of us were even lucky enough to sample some delicious cornflake cakes during a meeting.

Thanks to Claire and her amazing work, we are able to provide extra support for some of our most vulnerable young people. Next week, we will be looking at the work that she does in more detail.

Charity Event

Way back at the start of the month, we told you about an event Lorimer were proud to be a part of. The annual NHS Birthday Party in the Park was held at Golden Hill Park in Urmston. Monies raised from this brilliant community event went to Trafford Home Start, and along with the donation made by MD Jonathan Khan, we raised another £30 on the day selling names for the most ENORMOUS teddy bear we had ever seen!

Thanks to everyone who came to support us, and if you know of an event in your area where Lorimer might be able to have a stand, let us know.

Young Peoples Achievements

Our young people are always making fantastic achievements in their education, their skills and their personal lives! Here’s what they have been up to throughout the month of July.

  • Making ‘Happiness Stones’ and leaving them for others to find
  • Learning to prepare and cook new, exciting meals
  • Designing fun and useful items to be displayed at the Lorimer office
  • Completing an online safety course
  • Baking sweet treats to share with others
  • Trying out exciting new outdoor activities

A big well done to all of our young people for the wonderful things you have been doing!

In Other News

In the coming months we are going to launch our YouTube channel, where you will be able to find Vlogs containing useful information for Foster Carers.

Fancy yourself as a YouTube star? We would love volunteers to contribute their voices, content and ideas for this new project!

In fact, at Lorimer we value your contributions across all things we do. Is there something we could be doing better? What do you like about Lorimer Fostering? Drop us a line to let us know.
