March Roundup – on to April!

March has been a strange month for all of us, including our Foster Carers, young people, and staff. We’re all adjusting to living in a new way, with lots of changes happening quite quickly. In light of this, we wanted to make sure to keep on remembering the good things, and take a moment to applaud the young people for their fantastic achievements this month. We’ve also included an update on the current situation (COVID-19), a roundup of the blogs shared this month, information on training & events and some freebies for you to enjoy!

We also wanted to share with you some of these fab images we have received from Carers and young people this month! It looks like everyone has been having fun and keeping themselves busy throughout the lockdown. Cakes have been baked, potatoes have been planted, and rocks have been painted with beautiful rainbows to spread a little happiness to neighbours.

A big well done to all of our young people! We can’t wait to see what you get up to throughout April. Foster Carers, please keep us updated and share any images with us that you might have!

Coronavirus (COVID-19)

We recently posted some advice and guidance on to our website for Foster Carers regarding Coronavirus. It contains links to up to date information from the NHS & numbers for you to call should you need advice.

Due to the recent outbreak of Covid-19 and the fact that the welfare of our staff, carers & young people is paramount, we took the decision to temporarily close the office on the 17^th March 2020. All the staff members are fully functioning and working from home so at large it is business as usual! As soon as it is advisable we will be back in the office but until then you can still contact us in the usual ways outlined on our ‘Get in Touch‘ page. Wishing you all remain safe and well during these tough weeks! :)

Training & Events at Lorimer

During March we had the opportunity to get the whole team together for a group training course. We all took part in a Culture and Diversity session and were able to explore new and existing topics and language. It was a fun and engaging session and we all managed to take something away from it.

We made the decision to postpone all upcoming training sessions for our Foster Carers to ensure their safety during this time. Alternatively, our online training hub has been populated with a range of free resources that Carers and young people can access in the comfort of their own home. Our monthly drop-in session at Lorimer House for prospective carers has also been postponed. We would encourage anyone who is interested in becoming a Foster Carer to still get in touch with us during this time! Please leave your details by submitting the form on our ‘Get in Touch‘ page.
